Honoring 70 Years of Artistic Legacy, Education, and Performance
A Rich History Beginning in 1956
Lois Ellyn’s teaching career began in 1956, when she opened her first studio in Anaheim. That same year marked a significant step forward: her father constructed a permanent home for the school in Fullerton, laying the foundation for decades of artistic growth.
The new Lois Ellyn Studio was designed with dancers in mind. It featured a sprung-wood ballet floor measuring 60 by 40 feet, an impressive size that exceeded many theater stages in Orange County at the time. This specialized flooring provided both safety and performance quality, supporting dancers in rigorous classical training.,
A Legacy of Training and Performance
For seven decades, Lois Ellyn Ballet Studio has remained committed to:
- Classical ballet technique and discipline
- Original choreography and storytelling
- Performance opportunities for dancers of all levels
- Arts education within the Orange County community
Founder Lois Ellyn, a former professional dancer and choreographer, believed that students should not only train, but also perform. This philosophy led to decades of productions that gave dancers meaningful stage experience and artistic growth.
Building a Community Through Dance
Beyond technique, the studio has always been a place of connection. Generations of dancers have passed through its doors, many returning as teachers, choreographers, or lifelong supporters of the arts.
